Dynamics CRM Online Users Get Ad Tracking

Microsoft on Monday issued its first service update to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, a hosted sales database and collaboration solution unveiled in April. The update adds a tool that lets customers gauge the effectiveness of search advertising campaigns on Microsoft's ad network.

Companies can manage keyword search, keyword bids and leads generation all within the CRM environment, according to Microsoft's announcement. The module, which is a free update for Dynamics CRM Online customers, is designed to help coordinate a company's search engine marketing strategy with its CRM program.

"Our first service update is significant for its new functionality, scale and additional value it provides our customers at no additional cost," said Brad Wilson, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, in a released statement.

The update helps with other Internet marketing tasks, such as assessing return on investment. Users can measure click-through and ad conversion rates.

Currently, the module's analytics will only track ad statistics on Microsoft AdCenter. However, the module was written to manage ads in general. It will eventually support multiple networks, according to Microsoft.

The update also links users to Microsoft Pinpoint, a portal listing the products and services of more than 200 Microsoft Dynamics partners.
